Where we stand

Socialist Alternative is a group of revolutionary socialists in Australia active in many cities and university campuses. We aim to build an organisation that can lead the fight against capitalism and bring the working class to power. This section contains information about the politics, positions, and heritage of Socialist Alternative.

General principles

These are the fundamental principles of revolutionary socialism as well as a number of political positions that Marxists have worked out over the decades that flow from the fundamentals.
 
Where we came from

Socialist Alternative stands in the tradition of "socialism from below" which dates back to Karl Marx's famous declaration: "The emancipation of the working class must be conquered by the working class themselves."
